Reclaiming Food and Land Lineages to Build Hopeful Futures
Friday, December 5th, 1:00 PM
Rev. Jen Bailey, Dan and Margaret Maddox Fund & Dr. Ashley Brailsford, Phd, Unearthing Joy
How do our food memories, ancestral farming practices, and migration stories guide us toward collective healing? This presentation invites the audience into a dialogue about the wisdom carried through lineages of land, food, and culture—and how these stories shape visions for just and hopeful futures. Together, we will explore the ways we are reclaiming agricultural narratives honoring ancestors, and using food as a pathway to healing through the land.
We will also surface the critical roles and responsibilities of philanthropy, private landowners, and allied institutions in supporting this reclamation—acknowledging both historic harms and the opportunities for repair. Through storytelling and shared reflection, the audience will consider how nurturing legacies of land stewardship can grow futures rooted in justice, care, and abundance.
