House Farm Bill Update

The National Young Farmer Coalition is helping us follow what is happening in the House.

“In February, the House Agriculture Committee introduced their draft of the next Farm Bill, which Young Farmers opposed for failing to prioritize equitable farmland access, to invest in critical nutrition and local food programs, or to provide climate action tools for farmers. Thank you to everyone who took action, urging their Congress Members to vote no on the bill. The bill passed in committee, but we still have an opportunity to advocate for better legislation.

We expect a full floor vote in the next few weeks, in which all Representatives will vote on the House Farm Bill, not just the Agriculture Committee Members. Join us in calling for a Farm Bill that actually addresses the structural barriers that young farmers face in building successful careers in agriculture.

The Farm Bill has been expired since 2023, and we know the Farm Bill advocacy fatigue is real! But young farmers are the future of agriculture in this country and we deserve federal farm policy that addresses our key challenges, invests in our success, and builds a food and farm system in which we can not only survive, but thrive. Urge your Members of Congress to VOTE NO.”
