Position Overview
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communication Coordinator to support TN Local Food’s outreach efforts. This part-time position will focus on managing digital communications related to the upcoming 2025 TN Local Food Summit, ongoing TN Local Food initiatives, and weekly newsletter campaigns.
The ideal candidate will have experience creating engaging content for social media, managing newsletters via Mailchimp, and designing graphics in Canva or other design applications. Familiarity with food systems, sustainable agriculture, or related areas is a plus but not required.
About TN Local Food
TN Local Food is dedicated to strengthening Tennessee’s local food systems through education, collaboration, and community events. A key part of this mission is the annual TN Local Food Summit, which brings together farmers, chefs, educators, and community members to celebrate and advance local food initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Management
Create, schedule, and manage social media posts promoting the 2025 TN Local Food Summit and general TN Local Food activities.
Develop engaging content (graphics, captions, reels, stories, etc.) across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
Monitor engagement and respond to comments/messages as needed.
Newsletter Development
Design and distribute weekly newsletters via Mailchimp.
Coordinate content, event updates, and community highlights.
Event Communication Support
Attend in-person TN Local Food events in Nashville (as needed) to capture live content (photos, videos, posts).
Assist with real-time coverage and post-event recaps.
Qualifications
Must live in Davidson County, TN and be available for occasional in-person events in Nashville.
Strong experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
Proficiency in Mailchimp or similar newsletter/email marketing platforms.
Proficiency in Canva or other graphic design applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Creative eye for content creation (basic photography or video skills a plus).
Experience or interest in the agricultural/food systems space is a bonus, but not required.
Highly organized, reliable, and able to work independently while meeting deadlines.
Position Details
Hours: ~10 hours per week
Duration: 10–12 weeks (with possibility of renewal if funding allows)
Compensation: $15–18/hour, commensurate with experience
Employment Type: This is a 1099 independent contractor position and does not include benefits.
Work Environment: Primarily remote, with occasional in-person event attendance in Nashville.
