    Lessons Learned: Building a Residential Food Scraps Pickup Program

    Allie Omens is a public servant focused on reducing waste sent to landfill in Nashville, Tennessee. As Zero Waste Program Coordinator for Metro Nashville Waste Services, Allie launched and now manages the day-to-day implementation of the city’s Waste Management Plan ordinance, requiring materials management reporting for commercial construction and demolition projects. She also advances Metro's strategic planning efforts in other waste streams, including diverting food waste from landfill and encouraging effective participation in Nashville's curbside recycling program. Allie is also the Young Professional representative for SWANA Tennessee Volunteer chapter and was named SWANA’s 2023 Young Professional of the Year.
