Join us at The Community at Mill Ridge as we plant and celebrate the beginnings of our new community orchard.
Since 2019, The Community Farm at Mill Ridge Park has been The Nashville Food Project's largest urban agriculture site, with over 3 acres of land serving as community garden plots. This year, we are excited to expand access to fresh fruits, nuts, and berries for the growers at Mill Ridge and the surrounding community with the planting of our first community orchard.
Beyond providing delicious food, this orchard will help improve the tree canopy, support biodiversity, enhance soil health, and create a beautiful gathering space for neighbors around Mill Ridge. Put your hands in the soil with us today and invest in an orchard that will become a place of nourishment, learning, and connection for generations to come.
What will volunteers do?
Volunteers will help with the first steps and plantings of our over 200-tree & bramble orchard! Tasks will include labeling, organizing, and planting trees and brambles. For each tree, volunteers will also help dig holes and mulch the area. We will have a variety of tasks for folks of differing physical ability and experience.
