West Tennessee Grazing School - Troy, TN

There are two upcoming Grazing Schools for farmers taught by Grazing Specialist, Greg Brann. Farmers  may be eligible to receive 80% cost-share assistance from the Compact to install exclusionary fence. We are taking on select projects that maximize soil health and protect waterways. Historically underserved farmers are encouraged to apply.

Below are the dates and locations for the two events:

West Tennessee Grazing School (registration) - May 1st, 10am - 3pm, Troy, TN (Obion County)

Middle Tennessee Grazing School (registration) - May 18th, 2 - 7pm, Leoma, TN (Lawrence County)

The Cumberland River Compact’s Grazing School teaches farmers the skills of managed grazing to improve pasture health and maintain clean waterways. “Managed grazing” simply means rotating livestock into designated paddocks so that other previously munched pastures can recover. It is also known as rotational grazing, prescribed grazing, or adaptive multi-paddock grazing. Properly implemented, managed grazing systems are proven to improve forage quality and increase stocking densities. They also improve soil health, which decreases erosion, protects waterways, and can even help to sequester carbon.
