Organic recordkeeping is one of the most important—and often most time-consuming—aspects of organic certification. To help farmers streamline the process, the Midwest Transition to Organic Partnership Program (MW TOPP) is hosting a free webinar showcasing OrganicAssistant, a digital tool designed to simplify organic recordkeeping and help farmers draft their Organic Systems Plan (OSP).
The webinar will provide an overview of OrganicAssistant, demonstrate how the platform helps farmers organize records from the field and the office, and feature firsthand experiences from farmers who use the tool in their daily operations. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions during a live Q&A session.
OrganicAssistant was developed by Luke Freeman, formerly with the Center for Arkansas Farms and Food (CAFF), in collaboration with organic farmers throughout the Midwest. The platform allows farmers to log organic records directly from their phones and generate a draft Organic Systems Plan using existing files and farm information.
Joining Freeman are two organic farmers who use OrganicAssistant on their farms:
Liz Graznak, Happy Hollow Farm (Missouri)
Brendan Sinclair, Snuggle Bug Farm (Arkansas)
They will share how OrganicAssistant supports day-to-day recordkeeping in the field, improves documentation, and enables multilingual farm crews to participate in the recordkeeping process.
