Lotus Chaney, The Buttonbush Farm and Nursery

Saturday, December 5, 2:00 PM · Room 318

Workshop · Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation · No prior knowledge needed

Native plants provide critical climate adaptation solutions, from flood mitigation to drought resilience, yet many farmers and urban communities affected by climate extremes remain unaware of their power. This hands-on workshop teaches participants how to save seeds and become frontline partners by working directly with Tennessee native species to:

  • Identify which climate challenges Southeastern natives address

  • Understand field collection

  • Practice seed cleaning with simple tools

  • Learn proper seed storage

  • Explore specialized germination techniques

Everyone leaves with native seeds to plant, propagation guides for 2–3 species, and the confidence to collect seeds from their own backyards and bioregions, turning climate challenges into community-led solutions.
