Connecting the Dots: Local Food Systems & Healthy Food Financing, Saturday, December 6, 10:15 AM

Ariel comes to the food system work by way of farmers’ market fundraising. She worked for Nourish Knoxville, which helps run some of East TN’s most successful and longstanding farmers’ markets. She helped coordinate the Nourish Community program, providing 1000s of pounds of free, local, and fresh produce to communities in need while helping provide additional income to local farmers. After 2.5 years there, she transitioned over to the United Way of Greater Knoxville, where she manages the Healthy Food Financing Initiative grant, provides staff support to the Knoxville Knox County Food Policy Council, and runs the Food Distribution working group. She is obsessed with the smallest of ingredients that make a meal memorable - from capers, cocktails, to cutlery.
