SEEKING: Farmers for Ujaama Café

Rebecca Selove is seeking farmers who want to learn more about a project that's coming to Nashville.  It's a spinoff of a program in New Jersey that beings together farmers, chefs and food entrepreneurs,  and folks living in economically underdeveloped neighborhoods with limited access to nutritious food. CEO and founder, Leeja Carter, is an advocate for access to nutritious food, preferably locally-grown, as a key part of a network that benefits all participants.

Leeja will be in Nashville on February 19, 2026 to start developing the Ujaama Café project here. Rebecca is looking for some farmers to join her and other local food access advocates for lunch, a presentation from Leeja and her team, and introductions from all present. Space is limited. Ujamaa Cafés are projects of The Coalition for Food and Health Equity, who build power within communities through sustainable, community-grown cultures of health. a located within community centers, schools, health clinics, and pantries to offer free diverse and healthy food options. You can find Ujamaa Café refrigerators in Newark, Paterson, Philadelphia, and soon Southern New Jersey.
