A promising movement toward regenerative agriculture has grown over the past decade from the science of both the soil and human microbiomes.  While most “certified organic” foods now lack the nutrients & minerals critical to human health that they had a century ago, foods produced on regenerated, healthy soils are showing huge increases in virtually every nutrient tested!  Regenerative agriculture has roots in permaculture principles that avoid destructive tillage, many of which were informed by indigenous polyculture systems.  In this workshop, Susana Lein will integrate these principles and practices used for food production at Salamander Springs Farm with the milpa agricultural system, which she learned in the 1990’s during 8 years working with Mayan farmers in Latin America (similar to the 3-Sisters in North America).
